Event Name: Happiness and Its Ethics

At this month's meeting, our friends at the Ethical Humanist Society of Rochester will examine this upbeat feeling through an ethical lens and explore all the factors we interact with during our lifelong pursuit of happiness. It's movie night at the Ethical Humanists of Atlanta and you're invited! On June 5th, they will be discussing the documentary, Passing.This film follows the lives of three young transmen of color and their thoughts on gender identity and being misperceived as cisgender. Following an interactive discussion, everyone will reconvene from their small group discussions to pick the next documentary that they will watch before next month's meeting. So, channel your inner Ken Burns and join us on June 5th at 7 pm EDT!

When it come to getting our act together on climate change, three is the magic number. Join the New York Society for Ethical Culture,as they welcome Third Act founder, Bill McKibben. Bill will talk about his latest novel, The Flag, the Cross, and the Station Wagon: A Graying American Looks Back at his Suburban Boyhood and Wonders What the Hell Happened. On April 20th, we hosted our latest Salon on Peace and Climate. Moderated by Nori Rost, we heard from James Croft, Curt Collier, and Bart Worden as they shared their thoughts and insights on the causes and effects of the Ukraine invasion as well as possible resolutions. Featured in The Guardian, Nori Rost, Leader of the New York Society for Ethical Culture, spoke about her first experience at a pro-choice event and her fear that the threats to one's individual rights won't stop with the repeal of Roe v Wade. In celebration of Earth Day at Phil Rizzuto Park in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the Ethical Society of Bergen County planted groves of trees, which will provide a healthier environment for local wildlife and plant life by soaking up rainwater.
