Weyerhaeuser and Aymium Enter Agreement to Rapidly Scale Biocarbon Market

Weyerhaeuser Company and Aymium today announced they have entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to partner to produce and sell 1.5 million tons of sustainable biocarbon annually for use in metals production. As an initial stage of this partnership, the companies have formed a joint venture — TerraForge Biocarbon Solutions — to build a jointly owned facility adjacent to Weyerhaeuser's lumber mill in McComb, Miss., that will convert wood fiber into biocarbon through a combustion-free, low-emissions process.

Serve Community by Donating to Hunters Helping the Hungry

Alabama is blessed with an abundant white-tailed deer herd of more than a million animals, and hunters can share that blessing with people who need nutritious protein through the Hunters Helping the Hungry (HHH) program.

With the change in the hunting regulations approved by the Alabama Conservation Advisory Board, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (ADCNR) Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division expanded the opportunities to manage deer herds with an increase in the daily bag limit for does from one per day to two per day in most of the state.

“The Hunters Helping the Hungry program started several decades ago, and it helps people manage deer on their property,” Conservation Commissioner Chris Blankenship said. “If they have their freezers full and their friends’ freezers full and still need to take more deer, they can donate those deer to be processed to go to the food banks. It’s really great to take some of the bounty that God has blessed us with in Alabama to be able to provide protein to the people in need. I encourage people to find processors in their area that take part in the program and to drop those deer off.

EPA and Army Corps Release Proposed WOTUS Rule Aimed at Clarity After Sackett

On November 20, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a long-anticipated proposal to revise the definition of “waters of the United States” (WOTUS). The proposed rule seeks to align federal jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act (CWA) with the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Sackett v. EPA (2023), while addressing years of regulatory uncertainty following Rapanos, the 2015 Clean Water Rule, the 2020 Navigable Waters Protection Rule, and the 2023 amendments.

For regulated industries and public agencies, the proposal is significant for two reasons:

  1. It reflects the clearest effort in a decade to adopt a durable, administrable definition of WOTUS; and
  2. It introduces multiple alternative regulatory approaches within the proposal itself, signaling the agencies’ desire for robust public input before finalizing any new rule.

Public comments are due January 5, 2026, under Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OW-2025-0322.

Law Firms Pocket Millions Helping Nonprofits, Bureaucrats Expand Environmental Regulations

Since 2013, more than $20 million has been paid in attorney fees alone as a result of environmental law litigation between outside groups, often environmental nonprofits, and the federal government. The highest costs came during the Biden administration.

It highlights a troubling arrangement between federal agencies and litigating nonprofits, which are sometimes also federal grantees. Outside groups suing federal agencies not only cost taxpayers millions of dollars, but result in settlements that allow bureaucrats to create new regulations that bypass Congress and public debate. The scheme, known as “sue and settle,” allows nonprofits and bureaucrats to make policy agreements that amount to an end-run around Congress.
