AFE News and Updates: November 2020
Free Webinar: December 1, 10am MST
Join this webinar to learn everything you need to know about publishing in Fire Ecology. The journal's editor and associate editors will answer questions such as: Is it the right journal? Does my paper’s topic match the vision of Fire Ecology? How do I submit? What is the process? How long does it take? How much does it cost?

You will also have a chance to sign up for a 10 minute personal consultation if you'd like. While this webinar is targeted for graduate students and early career researchers, everyone is welcome.
As we start this holiday season, we want to say thank you for supporting and engaging with AFE throughout the past year. We appreciate every new and renewed membership, donation, committee member, board member, volunteer contribution, and notes of thanks and feedback. You all are the best, and we couldn't do this without you!
GivingTuesday is December 1 and will mark the beginning of AFE's annual giving campaign. You can donate any amount to help us reach our goal and support AFE programs and services. Also, we welcome your participation as an AFE Fundraiser this year; it is easy to make a personalized webpage, set a goal, and share your passion for fire ecology on social media!

Fire Across Boundaries: Webinar Recordings and Film Festival Winner
Thanks to everyone who participated in the two webinars held October 20-21!

The webinar recordings are now available, featuring an international panel 1) discussing COVID-19 impacts on the 2020 fire season and 2) integrating fire ecology and the bioeconomy into wildfire management.
The virtual film festival received 23 film submissions from 9 countries, representing a range of topics. We are pleased to announce that Walking with Fire: A Wildfire Documentary received the most votes! Congratulations to Justin Sullivan and his team. While voting is closed, the films are still available for viewing and you can post for comments on the discussion board.
