Hello!

AFFCF is pleased to bring you the latest information about the resources you need to help you and your student get ready for post-secondary studies.

THE AFFCF SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

WILL OPEN 4/1/25 - 4/30/25

The AFFCF Scholarship application will be open from 4/1/25 - 4/30/25 for students who will be enrolled in the Fall 2025 semester.

This is for new applicants, NOT students who are already part of the AFFCF Scholarship program. Students who are already part of the AFFCF Scholarship program have a much shorter renewal process in May after the semester ends.

Applicants to the AFFCF Scholarship program will:

  • Have reached (or will be reaching) age 18 in foster care (ward of the state of Arizona or in tribal foster care in Arizona)

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher from high school or most recent college semester completed (or have earned their GED)

  • Be under the age of 25

  • Enroll in a minimum of six credit hours for the Fall 2025 semester in an undergraduate degree-seeking program (Associate degree or Bachelor degree)

The AFFCF Scholarship application is opening earlier this year, so that high school students can access their transcripts and request letters of recommendation from teachers or school staff, if desired.

The AFFCF Scholarship application requires one letter of recommendation (from either a personal or academic reference).

If a student does not yet have his or her Fall 2025 class schedule, an acceptance letter or a document explaining the student's enrollment process can be uploaded in its place.

Students will need to provide a class schedule prior to scholarship funds being disbursed to students' schools, if awarded.

ENROLLMENT AND HOUSING FEES

  • At Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University (NAU), and the University of Arizona (UA), a student's enrollment fee can be deferred to be paid from the student's financial aid. A student can choose that option, so that he or she can continue with housing selection, if living on campus.

  • At ASU and UA, a student's housing fee can be deferred to be paid from the student's financial aid. A student can choose that option, if living on campus.

  • At NAU and Yavapai College, a student's housing fee cannot be deferred to be paid from the student's financial aid. At NAU, there is a both a housing fee ($100) and a Housing Rent Confirmation Deposit ($175) that will be charged in the housing selection process.

  • If a student enrolling at NAU or Yavapai College is in need of assistance paying the housing fee(s), the Focus Forward Fund has an "On-campus deposits" category. Students can apply for assistance with housing fees by submitting a Focus Forward request.
