Robert McFarland Book Awards

On Thursday April 30th, 2026, a total of ten students from various school districts gathered at the Atlantic Works Conference center in Hartford to receive a very prestigious award. The Robert McFarland Book Awards, named after a past President of the Alliance, have been awarded to prominent French students since 2002. Teachers nominate their students not only for their superior ability in the language but also for their passion to learn the French language and culture. The event was enriched with many enthusiastic speeches showcasing the uniqueness of each student’s talent.

Gâteau au sirop d’érable

Recently, at our annual meeting, many people were asking for the cake recipe served at the event. Merci to Liz Regal for providing a copy of that recipe for this newsletter!

Recette de Jeanne Douillard

Pour la Pâte :

1 tasse de farine usage

1 ½ cuillère à café de poudre à pâte

½ cuillère à café de sel

½ tasse de sucre

1 cuillère à soupe de beurre

1 œuf, battu

1/3 tasse de lait

Pour la Sauce :

1 tasse de sirop d’érable

¾ tasse d’eau
