ADMINISTRATOR'S MESSAGE

AFHS Families,

What do we do as teens complain that “They are so stressed”? Sometimes it helps to reframe stress with them. Not all stress is bad. Short-term challenges serve as emotional weightlifting, building confidence that they can do hard things. Rather than eliminating this kind of stress, I encourage students to embrace it, highlighting the rewards of their perseverance. Often, the resilience gained in the long term is more important than succeeding at the challenge itself. In the face of longer, harder to control stress, positive relationships with family or adults become crucial for coping. As educators, we try to connect the best we can with all students and help them control what they can, and let go of the things they can’t. Reframing stress can give teens hope that life will get better as they grow stronger in the face of it.

Regards,

Eric Marianno

Assistant AFHS Principal

IN THE KNOW

IT'S SHOWTIME...Watch Cave Creative HERE.

SCHOOL LUNCH:

Parents - remember to check your students lunch account balance as there are many students who owe money for school meals.

SENIOR GRADUATION VIDEO:

For this year’s Senior Video, we plan to include videos submitted by the Senior Class. The goal is to showcase various times throughout students’ lives. We are specifically looking for childhood videos (baby videos, first day of school, first friends, family trips, etc.) We also need more recent videos of experiences outside of high school (casual hangouts, dances, trips, jobs, etc.)

Obviously, videos need to be school appropriate, which means no swearing, no drugs, and no violence.

We encourage parents to submit videos of their students as well!

All videos submit here at this LINK.

AFHS Skate Night was held on Valentine's Day, 2024. The event was free for the first 100 students.
