When Should I Expect My Tax Forms?

For all brokerage accounts, we have received the following timeline from NFS:
  • 2019 tax forms will be mailed to clients in waves beginning January 25, 2020
  • Most 1099 tax forms will be available online between January 25 and February 15 and the majority will be mailed by February 15, 2020
    • As in past years, NFS has applied for and received a mailing extension from the IRS that will permit the generation of some non-retirement 1099 tax documents from after February 15, but no later than March 6
In addition, AFM will mail out realized gain & loss reports at the beginning of March

On or around January 31, 2020, Investor360° clients who use TurboTax or H&R Block software can import their tax information electronically for all their NFS accounts.

Here's Why You Should Always  Write  Out "2020"

It wouldn't be a new year without a new scam on the horizon. But here's a small tip to help avoid a big problem. Financial and legal experts are advising that you avoid abbreviating the year 2020 to just 20. Why? Because scammers and other troublemakers can easily pre- or post-date your financial or legal documents if you give them the space to do so (for example, changing 1/6/20 to 1/6/2001 or 1/6/2021)! Of course, any date could be altered by a forger-but abbreviating 2020 could permit a scammer to alter the date merely by adding numbers (rather than changing the numbers that you wrote when you dated the document). Have a happy-and safe-New Year everyone!
