Honoring our Philanthropic Community!
Two great options...
Join us either at Michael's On East, or by live video
Firstly, we hope you are staying healthy and doing well. It is certainly true that 2020 was a challenging year for many of us, and we are glad to be moving forward with renewed optimism. We’re starting fresh and we look forward to celebrating with you.

We are truly fortunate to live in a remarkable, supportive community, renowned for so many things - natural beauty, cultural offerings, creativity, enterprise and scholarship to name a few. We know that what makes our community extraordinary is its philanthropic heart. Many thousands of non-profits, foundations and individuals work together as donors and volunteers to transform the world and our small corner of it.

Each year National Philanthropy Day celebrates the far-reaching impact of this generosity, and last year our sponsors helped recognize thirty-four truly outstanding individuals. We invite you to sponsor this year's event as we celebrate donors and volunteers at all levels who give their time, talent and treasure to strengthen our community. An added bonus…Submit your nomination for Outstanding Youth In Philanthropy. This year’s winner will receive a $250 check made payable to the college of their choice towards tuition or book expense.  Who do you feel exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy?

We'll not only celebrate our honorees, but we'll also celebrate ourselves with a powerful, soulful and entertaining keynote speaker.  Our keynote? Motivational speaker Linda Larsen! Linda Larsen is, without a doubt, one of the funniest motivational speakers on the planet. Her audiences laugh; they hold their breath; they laugh some more. Sometimes they dance, but they always, always learn!  Linda alone would make for an exciting, motivating event, but we're adding some special entertainment for you as well. This part will be our surprise for you and our honorees.

Put November 9 on your calendar, and review the sponsor levels shown below, or purchase your tickets for in-person or virtual attendance.  Join us. This year it’s all about getting back together and having a little fun while we not only celebrate those who support our nonprofits every day, but we’re going to celebrate ourselves as well!

Thank you,

Meet Linda Larsen!
Our National Philanthropy Day speaker is one of our very own! Linda Larsen has lived in Sarasota since 1961 and loves speaking to “her people.” From Australia to Kuwait to Amsterdam this CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame keynote presenter has dazzled more than 1,500 audiences worldwide including one memorable presentation to a group of 17,000 teenagers at a Future Farmers Annual Convention. That was 15 years ago and she says she still has nightmares about that.

Linda lives with her fabulously funny, fun husband, ABC-7 meteorologist John Scalzi, her four feisty, furry doggies, Lulu, Zoey, Toto and Jolly, and Buster the Big Alligator.

We offer another option to attend our annual event...

We are planning a hybrid event. We will monitor CDC guidelines as they relate to COVID 19 and let you know of any changes as we get closer to the date.
AFP Southwest Florida chapter plans to offer hybrid events in September, October, November, and December, 2021, unless CDC guidance changes in the near future. Events will be hosted both in person, and shown online. Prices will differ for attendance online and in-person. In order to offer the safest environment possible to attendees on-site, Face masks will be required at all in-person AFP SWFL Chapter events when not eating. Your temperature will be taken before entry to any in-person AFP Southwest Florida event for the near future. Any person with a temperature above 100 degrees will be denied entry to the event. Thank you for helping keep our local nonprofit community safe and healthy."
