Oh, hello February! Just like that, we are a month into the new year.
Time can slip by us, and so much can happen in the world around us in that time. When it comes to fundraising, we all do our best to stay aware of how current events may affect our donors and how giving trends may be changing from year to year. Fortunately, our AFP chapter programs are a great resource for keeping up with the latest research and best practices.
Another major force in the success of our nonprofit businesses is our government, which can impact our charities through tax reform, funding agency allocations, and even the price of postage stamps! For that, we have the AFP Political Action Committee lobbying for us at the federal level (click here for more information and to make a contribution in support of the PAC).
When it comes to state, county, or municipal/city decisions, we have fewer people looking out for nonprofit fundraisers and those we support. That’s why we need a few tools in our toolbelt: so we can influence positive change before misguided policies and laws slip by us.
Learn from two of the best, Rebecca Montgomery and Dr. Wayne Carson, in our chapter meeting on February 13 at ACH Child and Family Services, and discover how your unique skills and connections as a fundraising professional can make a difference during Texas’ 88th legislative session and beyond!
