Monthly News & Updates

October 2022 | Issue 10.22

President's Message

October’s AFP meeting is traditionally our annual meeting. Its when you, as a member of our chapter, have the opportunity to vote for our board of directors. This body sets the annual budget, leads our programs—including our major events like the philanthropy day luncheon and DFW philanthropy conference)—updates policies, administers scholarships, liaises with our global AFP organization, supports membership, implements IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, access) best practices, and much more (all with the constant help and guidance of our brilliant chapter administrator James Nicholson).

This working board of volunteers meets at 10:00 am before each AFP chapter meeting, and unless otherwise stated, our meetings are open for any member to attend and learn about the work of our chapter. Of course, that early start makes for a long day out of the office (trust me, we know!).

This year, we are calling our annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. In addition to approving the board nominees, we will be presenting on the state of our chapter: our financial position, membership metrics, and our strategic priorities for the next three years. Although we only need 10% of our membership present to approve the new slate of board members, I hope a large group can show up a bit early. This will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and provide input. Again, I hope you can be present.

And once we conclude the annual meeting at noon, we will turn over the program to our dynamic IDEA committee. They have an interactive program that will introduce us to some useful AFP resources and lead us in a discussion of major challenges present in our workplaces and experienced throughout our industry.

See you at 11:30am, at ACH on October 10!
