Monday, February 13, 2017
11:30am - 1:00pm
The Fort Worth Club
12th Floor
306 West Seventh Street
Fort Worth, TX 76102
Program Title:
"Building a Development Team Without Territorial Divides"
It is tougher than ever to create a healthy development department and team without creating conflicts on donor assignments. How can you craft an effective and cohesive development plan and create a team atmosphere without individual metrics taking top priority? How can you change the "that's my donor" philosophy to "that's OUR donor"? This roundtable presentation will focus on the hiccups many development teams face and how to avoid those pitfalls. By the end of the presentation you will have a new frame to build a development team with a winning philosophy for management, development staff, volunteers and donors.
Presenter:
Ann Abbe is passionate about helping nonprofit organizations and universities reach their goals. For almost three decades, she worked within the realm of university fundraising, beginning at entry level and progressing to vice president for development at two major universities. For almost eleven years, Ann's fundraising and administrative experience led her to consulting, not only for universities, but for various nonprofit and fundraising organizations as well. She has served as vice president for development for The University of Texas at Arlington, associate vice president and vice president for development at The University of North Texas, director of development for North Texas Public Television/Radio, and other organizations. As a consultant, Ann has worked with The Women's Museum, Family Gateway, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and School, and many more.
Ann speaks often at seminars and conferences, such as Association of Fundraising Professionals International (AFP), and Council for the Support of Education International (CASE), among others, and has served on community boards, including the Community Advisory Board of North Texas Public Broadcasting, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation in Washington, D.C., and the Former Students Association of Texas A&M University. Ann has authored several articles on women and cultural giving. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.A and M.A.

President's Message
February 2017
|
Over the past week, I've seen lots of quotes regarding Texas weather. You know the ones - "The only state that can have four seasons in one week." "Don't like the weather? Stay a day."
While the weather is often unpredictable this time of year, AFP Fort Worth Metro Chapter remains constant - on the second Monday of the month.
Join us, Monday, February 13, for an early Valentine's Day celebration with your fundraising friends. Our special guest, Ann Abbe, will lead us in round table discussions around "building a development team without territorial divides."
Behind the scenes of AFP Fort Worth Metro Chapter, we have been hard at work submitting our AFP International Headquarters (AFP IHQ) online paperwork for the AFP Accord, Friends of Diversity and 10-Star Gold recognitions.
We have received word that we are officially in Accord to the AFP IHQ standards of an AFP Chapter. What exactly does that mean? Officially from the AFP IHQ website, here is the rationale for Accord:
In addition to reviewing the activities of all chapters and enabling AFP to assess the services we currently provide, the Accord process is vital to maintaining AFP's ability to offer all U.S. chapters 501(c)(3) status and provide Directors' and Officers' liability insurance and General liability insurance to all chapters.
We are thrilled to remain in Accord!
I look forward to seeing you February 13 at the Fort Worth Club!
