Industry News

"The circular economy's central aim is to extend the life of all the goods and materials being bought, sold, used and discarded daily, throughout our societies, in order to curb extraction, pollution and waste. As such, it has come to be seen as a vital tool in the fight against environmental crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss, resource scarcity and pollution."
- Newsweek

"There may be no airliner as recognizable as the Boeing 747, the world's first jumbo jet, with its iconic hump of an upper deck...But the airline business has changed, and the giant plane has become more expensive to operate."
- NY Times

"A decommissioned Boeing 747-400, once flown commercially by Dutch airline KLM, is now undertaking an unusual final trip. Acquired by Corendon Hotels & Resorts, the aircraft recently made its final departure from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport -- by road. "

Association Update
From Kelly Lyon, AFRA Auditor
Dear AFRA Members,

As some of you may be aware, over the past year the BMP Development Committee has been working on updating the BMP Accreditation process. Specifically, the recycling and disassembly guidance documents have been separated to improve accessibility, and Contracted Recycling has been included as an additional Accreditation subset to the program. As in the past, any edits and/or new language will have the typical vertical revision bars in the left margin.

Similar to the BMP 3.3, under version 4.0 your company will simply be "AFRA Accredited," and will be audited to one and/or a combination of the following five (5) Accreditation subsets: Demolition, Disassembly, Contracted Disassembly, Recycling, and Contracted Recycling. The BMP Guide 4.0 has been released and there is be a 90 Day Period from the roll-out date before the BMP 4.0 becomes effective, which will be on Thursday, April 18, 2019. All audits conducted after April 18, 2019 will be in accordance with BMP 4.0.

Thank you to everyone who assisted with the process as we continue our work to provide the best information and guidance for the industry. If you have any questions regarding the BMP 4.0 revisions, please contact AFRA staff.

Best regards,

Kelly Lyon
AFRA Auditor
