The AFRA Visionary Award recognizes outstanding leadership and vision in the aircraft recycling industry.

At the ASA AFRA Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, on June 24, 2024, AFRA presented the Visionary Award to Derk-Jan (DJ) van Heerden, a distinguished leader in aircraft recycling. He is recognized for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to industry standards and environmental stewardship.

At the recent SustainAir Circular Aviation Conference in Vienna, Austria, AFRA President Brent Webb and Derk-Jan van Heerden, founder of Aethos and former AFRA President, joined Denis Kranjnc from Compass Horizon EU for a panel on End-of-Life Solutions for Upscaling, an essential topic in aviation sustainability.

They discussed enhancing material recycling in the aviation aftermarket and promoting improved aircraft disassembly to support a circular economy. AFRA collaborates with like-minded organizations to drive End-of-Service Solutions that minimize waste and maximize resource utilization. Let's soar together towards a sustainable future!
