Dear AFRA Members,

First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your membership. Your unwavering support is the cornerstone of AFRA’s success. But what exactly is that success? In my view, AFRA currently occupies one of its strongest positions in years.

Let’s take a look at the key highlights:

  • Boeing Pledge: Last year, Boeing made a resounding commitment to AFRA. They pledged that all their aircraft dismantling activities would be completed under the AFRA Best Management Practices. This alignment has significantly bolstered our industry standards.
  • TARMAC’s Return: AFRA welcomed TARMAC back as an accredited member. Their accreditation journey included achieving the prestigious Diamond KPI level. Notably, several other members have also achieved this pinnacle in aircraft dismantling.
  • CAAC AFRA Collaboration: AFRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC). The MoU will enable AFRA accredited disassembly providers to facilitate Used Serviceable Material (USM) sales into the Chinese market, comprising over 4,000 in-service commercial aircraft. AFRA has partnered with Block Aero to implement a digital registry that will help accredited teardown providers comply with the new CAAC regulations and whitelist their parts for entry into the Chinese market.
  • Carbon Fiber R&D: AFRA is at the forefront of an exciting R&D project with Boeing and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Our focus? The proper dismantling and recycling of carbon fiber. Sustainability remains one of our top priorities.
  • United Airlines Joins: By appointing a director from United Airlines and welcoming them as a member, we’ve further solidified our initiatives with the airlines. United’s participation enhances our initiatives and industry influence.
  • Committee Engagement: Excitingly, we’ve expanded our team to better utilize committees. This move empowers our members to actively steer AFRA’s direction.

In summary, AFRA stands tall, and your active engagement continues to propel us forward. Let’s collectively chart the course for AFRA’s bright future!
