VACCINE UPDATE

FDA says Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine meets success criteria. The FDA concluded in a detailed analysis that the first Covid-19 vaccine being considered for U.S. distribution “met the prescribed success criteria” in a clinical study, suggesting the agency will soon green-light the historic product.

ATTORNEY GENERAL ACTIONS
DATA PRIVACY

  • Connecticut AG Tong filed a multi-state lawsuit seeking to end facebook's illegal monopoly. Connecticut is joined by the United States Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of 47 other attorneys general in challenging Facebook’s monopolistic practices, including its aggressive strategy to buy or bury potential rivals.  

CONSUMER PROTECTION

  • Arizona AG Brnovich announced his office filed a Consumer Fraud lawsuit alleging two online auction companies were unfairly and deceptively bidding in their own auctions.

  • Washington AG Ferguson issued guidance for third-party restaurant delivery services. The guidance is aimed at helping the companies avoid violations of Washington’s Consumer Protection Act.

  • Washington AG Ferguson announced that Washingtonians must receive full refunds on hidden subscription renewal charges.

  • Florida AG Moody issued a Consumer Alert warning Floridians about COVID-19 vaccine product and distribution scams.

MORTGAGE SERVICING ISSUES

  • Nebraska AG Peterson, joined by 50 attorneys general, announced $86.3 million settlement with mortgage servicer Nationstar.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

  • Gilead Sciences, Inc. announced the launch of its Racial Equity Community Impact Fund, and will provide $10 million in grants to 20 organizations in new 3-year program.

COMMUNITY

  • Lowe's announced it will be donating and delivering $1 million worth of pre-lit Christmas trees to families and organizations impacted by the pandemic.

BIG TECH

  • Amazon Inc. announced that Thomson Reuters has successfully completed a large scale migration to Amazon Web Services to innovate new digital products for its customers.
