Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) laid out a model for Federal oversight of adult-use of cannabis. Please find press release and contact information below.
1. The federal permitting of cannabis producers, importers, testing facilities and distributors;
2. The approval and regulation of cannabis products;
3. The efficient and effective collection of federal excise tax; and
4. Effective measures to ensure public safety.
WSWA emphasizes that these principles are intended to address the inevitable creation of a national cannabis market and do not propose altering existing state regulatory structures for adult use cannabis as well as protecting the rights of states who choose not to legalize cannabis.
