  • Attorney General Connor's office announced Hawaii’s reformed sex trafficking laws aim to combat commercial sexual exploitation by providing important tools in the fight against sex trafficking.

  • California AG Bonta unveiled new guidance, reports, and resources to help the public and law enforcement better understand and address hate crimes in California. At 1,330 bias events in 2020, overall hate crimes in the state are at their highest reported level in more than a decade.

  • D.C AG Racine announced that an area childcare program will be required to overhaul its business practices after an investigation found the company misled and deceived parents about late fees, auto-enrollment payments, and other charges. 

  • Florida AG Moody issued a Consumer Alert warning Floridians of potential charity scams associated with the Surfside building collapse.

  • Vermont AG Donovan's Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit announced a settlement with Health Care & Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont of Springfield resolving allegations that HCRS violated the Vermont False Claims Act.



  • Montana AG Knudsen announced appointments to the Montana Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force. The task force’s main goals are to break down jurisdictional barriers and identify causes that contribute to missing and murdered Indigenous persons.

  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau:
  • Finalized amendments to the federal mortgage servicing regulations to reinforce the ongoing economic recovery as the federal foreclosure moratoria are phased out;
  • Issued a report highlighting legal violations identified by the Bureau’s examinations in 2020. The report also highlights prior CFPB supervisory findings that led to public enforcement actions in 2020 resulting in more than $124 million in consumer remediation and civil money penalties; and
  • Filed a proposed order in federal district court against Burlington Financial Group and its owners and executives, for allegedly deceiving consumers into hiring the company to lower or eliminate credit-card debts and improve consumers’ credit scores.


  • Former Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter was featured in the first episode of LegalShield’s “Justice for All,” a new series focused on amplifying the voices of human rights advocates and increasing awareness of issues that impact marginalized and disenfranchised members of society. In the episode, Hon. Hunter discusses the impact of the McGirt Case on Oklahoma’s criminal justice system and addressing the state’s opioid addiction crisis.


  • Walmart announced the launch of the first-ever private brand analog insulin, which will revolutionize the access and affordability to diabetes care by offering customers a significant price savings without compromising quality.

Over the last year, communities across the country have assessed their treatment of minorities and other under-represented populations. In an effort to facilitate dialogue in the Attorney General community, Amazon and the Attorney General Alliance have partnered to create a series of conversations exploring issues around justice and social equity. We are excited to announce 2021 as the inaugural year of this forum and we look forward to providing focused programing aimed at facilitating exploration of these issues. We thank Amazon for their leadership and invite all of our public and private partners join us as we embark on these discussions.
