Using Animal Search Functions in the Registry
Whether you purchased an animal during the recent sale season, or you are scouring the upcoming sale catalogs on Gelbvieh.org, it is important to know where to find those animals on the American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) Online Registry Service. Before you start your search, you will want to make sure you have the animal(s) registration number, tattoo or name.
Searching the Registry Without a Member Login:

  1. Visit Gelbvieh.org and click Animal Search at the top of the page. This will take you to the AGA Online Registry Service.
  2. On the home screen, you'll find three columns" Ranch Search, EPD Search and Animal Search. The Animal Search column offers the opportunity to search the AGA inventory for animals by sex or identification including registration number, tattoo, name or electronic identification (EID) number.
  3. Select the specific parameters of your search by clicking the button underneath each as shown in the image on the left.
  4. Type the animal detail in the Search Value text box.
  5. Locate and click the "Search for Reg No" at the bottom of the search column. This button will search the registry even if you prefer to search by tattoo, name or EID.
  6. Your search results will appear below the columns. Select the animal's registration number to view its detail screen.
Searching Your Inventory on the Registry:

Animals can be searched using the steps provided for non-members, or by logging into your account and selecting any of the following options:

  • "All": Lists all active animals (bulls and females) currently listed under your ownership.
  • The tabs listed under "Bulls" and "Females" provide lists of your animals sorted by sex, age and status (breeding, yearling, weaned, pre-wean).
  • "Legacy": Lists all animals that have been disposed or transferred that were once in your active inventory.
Once you've selected the tab, the quickest way to search your inventory is to hold down the "Ctrl" and "F" buttons on your keyboard. This will generate a search bar on your screen where you can type in the animal's details. If the data you entered is on the screen, it will appear highlighted. Keep in mind, if you type in "123" all animals with that sequence of numbers will be highlighted so be sure to enter the full registration number or tattoo to specify your search.
Beneficial Search Options for All

The AGA Online Registry Service offers a multitude of options not only for members of the AGA, but the commercial producer looking for more information on Gelbvieh and Balancer® genetics. For example, did you know that the AGA provides access to search for animals within the AGA registry that meet the specific EPD parameters to meet the needs of your operation? Whether you're focused on maternal traits, carcass traits, or looking for a new sire to match up with next year's replacement heifers, the choice is yours and we have the tools to help narrow down that search.

  1. Visit Gelbvieh.org and select "Registry Login" located at the top right.
  2. One the next screen you'll find three grey columns: Member Search, EPD Search and Animal Search. All options are available to the public.
  3. To search for animals that meet your EPD parameters, simply enter specifics to the right of the EPD in which you want the registry to sort through.
  4. Be sure to select if you're searching for bulls, females or both at the bottom of the column.
  5. Select "Search..." to generate a list of animals that qualify based on the information you provided in the EPD search engine.
EPDs update on the AGA Online Registry every week to provide producers with the most up-to-date information. Be confident in knowing that you're looking at the most recent update by checking the date listed in the NCE Results box on the upper left corner of the animal's EPDs when viewing the animal detail screen. The most recent update will be dated the week prior. For example, if you're viewing EPDs on February 15, the most recent update would show a date of 2/7/2023 in the NCE box.

For more information on EPDs including definitions and a list of the Gelbvieh and Balancer breed averages, be sure to visit the EPD webpages found under the Genetic Technology tab found at Gelbvieh.org.
