AGA Elects New Officers for National Governing Board
AGA is pleased to announce the election of new National Governing Board (NGB) officers. The NGB confirmed Frank Petersen III, CGFM, as national president-elect; Michelle Yanok, CGFM, CPA, as national treasurer-elect; and Rachelle Cabading, CGFM, as director (at-large). The three leaders will serve two-year terms beginning July 1, 2023.
March Is CGFM Month
Each year, AGA highlights the value of CGFM certification throughout March. Join us in recognizing this important credential, those who earned it and encouraging others to become CGFMs!
Register Now for the 2023 AGA Women's Forum
AGA’s Council for the Advancement of Women will host its annual women's forum, virtually on Thursday, March 16, 1–5:10 p.m. ET. The 2023 theme is Equity in Action: The Power of Women. Interactive sessions will cover unconscious bias, recruiting and promotion, best practices in DEIA, leadership challenges and techniques, and self-care. NSF Begins Using OPM Talent Acquisition System
The National Science Foundation (NSF) began using the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) talent acquisition system in February to boost recruitment efforts. Called USA Staffing, the new OPM system offers a simplified interface for the candidate review process and more options for analyzing applicant data. The goal is greater transparency in the hiring process and fewer challenges for hiring managers.
AGA Broadens Eligibility Requirements for Directors (for Chapters)
AGA broadened eligibility requirements and qualifications for members seeking to serve on the NGB as a Director (for Chapters). The qualifications include:
  • A chapter member in good standing who is serving as the chapter’s National Council for Chapters representative.
  • A past chapter officer in good standing (e.g., chapter president, treasurer),
  • A former National Council of Chapters representative in good standing.
 
AGA is currently accepting nominations for Director (for Chapters) in Areas 2, 4, 6 and 8. Nominations close March 15, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

TikTok Banned from Government Devices
On February 27, the Office of Management and Budget started a 30-day timeline for agencies to remove TikTok and other apps from the Chinese company ByteDance from government-issued devices. Agencies also have 90 days to terminate contracts that require use of the app.
Join the PDT Host Committee
Onsite volunteers are needed for the PDT '23 host committee in Orlando on July 22–26. Host committee volunteers will receive complimentary PDT registration and meals; travel and hotel expenses will not be covered.

15 Students Attended NLT '23
AGA awarded National Collegiate Leadership Scholarships to 15 students to attend its 2023 National Leadership Training (NLT) in Washington, D.C. on February 22–23. The scholarships covered registration, airfare and lodging.
