Spring 2022

Presidents Letter

It looks like 2022 is going to open up and allow us to plan more events. Our Education Committee is busy working on tours and workshops for us, which we will announce shortly. We are a great group and getting involved with our fellow artists is a lot of what the AGASC encompasses. So, hopefully we will all take advantage of these opportunities.

The Board met on Feb 12th to discuss the upcoming year. The AGASC is going to hold our next general meeting on Sunday, August 14th.

So, mark your calendars and plan now to join our meeting.

The AGASC is sponsoring a special award this year for the glass category at the San Diego County Fair, so think about entering your artwork. There are more details in the newsletter.

Save the date for the 2022 Gallery 21 Annual Exhibition. It will run from Nov 15th to the 28th.

AGASC Annual Members Show

The 40th Annual Members' Exhibition and Boutique were a huge success. The sales were the best ever of the show. We should all be proud of the quality of the art exhibited this past year. For a list of all the last year's ribbon winners see the website. To see some of the art glass from the exhibition go to the website gallery.

Cathy Coverley Creates an Underwater Feel to Shower

The window is all about water. It is an 18” x 30”x 1/4” operating window, composed of 107 pieces of thin colored and iridescent clear with frit colors combed over it on both sides and fired multiple times. It was made into a dual-pane unit because it is located in a shower. The design was intended to complete the fused glass tile design embedded in the shower tile. I think it creates an underwater feel to the shower area.

Austin Art Projects in Palm Desert

In March a group of AGASC members headed over to Palm Desert to Austin Art Projects for an evening with artists Lino Tagliapietra, Vladimira Klumpar and Matyas Pavlik. Lino did not make the journey to the desert, but Vladimira and Matyas did. Their work was spectacular!
