BWiC Members Present to Girls at Work

As part of AGC MA's ongoing workforce developments efforts, members of the Building Women in Construction (BWiC) committee presented to Girls at Work, a non-profit supporting under-privileged girls ages 9-12 in the Manchester, NH area. The non-profit teaches woodworking skills and how to safely use power tools, offering results that are uplifting and life-changing.

Elaine Hamel's dynamic program has helped thousands of girls and women from all walks of life to discover their self-worth and the rewards of teamwork. In this supportive environment, they gain a sense of accomplishment from doing something new and inspiring that lasts well beyond the build!

BWiC members Carli Cabana, Siena Construction Corp., Samantha Giordano,
Ability to Dream and Design Group, Valerie Stone, Thomas G. Gallagher and AGC MA Staff members Emily Sheedy and Lisa Frisbie were honored to meet with the girls and share their experiences of success.

Scholarship Opportunities through the
AGC Education and Research Foundation
Through endowments made by AGC members and supporters, as well as AGC Chapters, the Foundation is able to give 100 or more undergraduate and graduate scholarships each year to deserving students. Since 1970, we have awarded over 4,000 scholarships totaling over $10 million. Scholarship candidates are evaluated for their academic success, their commitment to the industry through participation in campus professional organizations, summer or part-time work in the construction industry, and their goals for the future.
