Weekly Update 7/20

Construction Safety Week took place on September 14-18. Even though Construction Safety Week looked different this year, with smaller discussions and trainings taking the place of mass meetings and demonstrations, we believe it was more important than ever to come together and recommit to safety as the foundation of our industry. Lean for the Trades Toolbox Talks

AGC's Lean Construction Forum Steering Committee has developed the Lean for Trades Toolbox Talk Series to introduce Lean Construction concepts to the job-site. These 10-minute conversational huddles will help your team identify ways to improve processes, eliminate waste and adopt a Lean culture in the shop and field. Each Toolbox Talk session, released monthly, reviews a concept you can use to create discussion, teach and grow your team's understanding of Lean and determine how you can work more productively and collaboratively. Review the slide deck in an office or on a site, use the lesson to explain the concept, discuss the concept and use the printable handout to pass out to your team as a tool to help implement positive change.

AGC MA Behind the Scenes
A Message from Carli Cabana, Past BWiC Chair

"I've had the pleasure over the past 4 years working alongside Lisa, Stacy, Jackie and the rest of the BWIC committee to build a network that supports and empowers women in the industry to be more confident and successful professionals using practical tools and advice to help further ourselves both personally and professionally. We as a group have been challenged and have continuously been thinking outside of the box. BWIC is a place where we go beyond our comfort level to push our own boundaries and create new and exciting pathways for one another. It's been an honor to have had the opportunity to be here from the beginning; as a member at the table; to Vice Chair, helping make decisions; and eventually as Chair and be able to sit as board member with the rest of AGC committee Chairs to discuss important industry matters. BWIC plays an important role in the construction industry as we are helping develop the future where women have a voice in a male predominant industry. I congratulate Jackie on her success to BWIC Chair this year. I look forward to her visionary ideas and know she will continue to open new horizons as a strong leader and role model to all."
