Safety is a core value at The Hagerman Group.
On Feb. 14 and Feb. 15, The Hagerman Group hosted half-day Subcontractor Safety Summits in Fishers and Fort Wayne, inviting subcontractor team members. Approximately 50 people attended each summit.
The overall goal of the summits was to partner with subcontractor team members to strengthen relationships and grow a positive safety culture on The Hagerman Group’s projects. In addition, the events were designed to foster an understanding of the roles team members play in safety while providing a legal perspective on safety.
Each event started with lunch and networking, then opened with a discussion about Hagerman’s
commitment to safety, with Jeff Hagerman, chairman, The Hagerman Group, presenting in Fishers and Brad Smith, executive vice president, Hagerman Inc., presenting in Fort Wayne.
Guest speaker Adele L. Abrams, Esq.,CMSP Law Office of Adele L. Abrams PC,spoke about liability
and litigation issues from the construction manager, general contractor and subcontractor
perspectives. Abrams is an attorney and Certified Mine Safety Professional, and her firm represents employers in OSHA and MSHA nationwide. Stressing the importance of continual improvement, Abrams said that following the preplanning meetings process, site-specific plan requirements and other measures outlined during the
Subcontractor Safety Summit not only help comply with rules but also reflect a willingness to participate in the safety culture The Hagerman Group promotes.
The Subcontractor Safety Summits also included exhibitors showcasing their safety products.
Exhibitors included 3M, HD White Cap, Mill Supply, Ritz Safety, Trinity Safety Group and Tway
Lifting Products. The event concluded with a survey on safety and door prize giveaways.
