April 2022
April is Stress Awareness Month!
Stress impacts daily life and affects mental and or physical wellbeing, especially if you are a caregiver. Those under stress are more susceptible to various ailments such as headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure and heart disease.

For Stress Awareness Month, AGI offers you some self-care ideas to help improve your overall health:
1. Practice yoga or meditation
2. Ensure to eat nutrient-rich foods
3. Go for a walk
4. Get moving through regular exercise
5. Participate in a hobby
6. Read a new book
7. Listen to your favourite music
8. Reach out to friends
9. Find a support group
10. Make time for sufficient sleep
11. Take a moment to breathe
12. Connect with your doctor
Thank you!
In recognition of National Volunteer Week (April 17 - April 23), AGI honours our incredible volunteers who generously give their time and expertise in support of people living with dementia and their families within our Montreal community.

"Volunteering Is Empathy In Action" is the theme for 2022. Empathy is at the heart of AGI, helping us work together to create dementia-friendly communities where people living with dementia are understood, respected, and supported.

Thank you to our volunteers for their continued support and dedication through their work on our Board, Event Committees, and our Activity Centre.

Although you may not be the person doing the day-to-day caregiving, long-distance caregiving can be very time-consuming and a source of emotional, mental, and physical stress.

Presented by:
Mary-Catherine Lundquist
