LOBA Water Testing Crew

Takes to the Lake

Starting this Monday (June 30) and again on August 4 and August 23, you might see members of our intrepid Water Testing crew out on the lake during the early hours. Our water quality monitors will be collecting samples and gathering data from 23 sites. This work is being done to contribute to the Lake of Bays Water Quality Report.

Our volunteer based water quality monitoring program has proudly been in existence, since the 1970s. We have built a good baseline of data and as revealed in the 2024 Water Quality Report, the total phosphorus and bacteria levels on Lake of Bays, indicate excellent water quality in relation to provincial guidelines.

The 2024 Lake of Bays Water Quality Report, as well as previous years' reports can be downloaded here

Your Lake, Your Views 2025 Survey Your Participation is Important

LOBA is happy to be participating in the 2025 “Your Lakes, Your Views” survey with Safe Quiet Lakes.

Please take a moment to share your views. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

It is important to hear from everyone! Please pass this along to your friends, family members, and neighbours.

The responses will help us to understand the priorities of our members, what people value from their cottage experience, how they use the water and their boating activity concerns. Results from past surveys have guided planning at Safe Quiet Lakes and have been shared with Transport Canada, municipalities, the OPP and boating organizations. The survey will run until July 21 and can be easily accessed from any device.

We look forward to sharing the results with you in the fall. Your voice is important!
