The 2023 CNSC board of directors nomination committee has received a number of excellent candidates for various board positions that will voted on during the CNSC October 25, 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
As of this time none of the candidates has expressed interest in taking on the roles of the President or Vice President positions. The nominating committee would wish to make members aware that these roles are crucial to the successful operation of the club and nominating committee is still looking to fill these positions in advance of the AGM.
We believe that there is a perhaps perception that these roles are highly time consuming. We have provided the following facts to help possible candidates understand the roles.
The primary tasks of the president are to:
Run the monthly board meetings
Act as the official voice of the board of directors.
Communicate decisions which are made by the board.
Serves as the spokes person of club in conjunction with the General Manager and others as appropriate
Participate in agenda building
The president does not act without the support of the board.
The key skills needed are:
Ability to chair monthly board meetings
Knowledge of meeting procedures
General understanding and knowledge of CNSC Governance policies and bylaws
The primary task of the Vice president position
Assist the president as required
First stand when the president is unavailable for meetings.
It is hoped that the the vice president will become president at some point in the future.
Nominations for these positions can be made to any of the nominating committee members up to October 18th. After that date nominations can be made from the floor at the AGM at 7:00pm Wednesday October 25, 2023.
Sincerely your 2023 CNSC Board of Directors nominating committee.
