Manny Caballero
Lead Masters Coach and Aquatics Office Manager at Battery Park City.
1) How long have you been with AGUA Masters and Asphalt Green?
I just completed my eighth year at Asphalt Green instructing, managing the Swim School program, coaching the AGUA Swim Team, and coaching Masters practices in between.
2) What is your favorite stroke, distance, or race to swim?
Breaststroke — all day, every day! As a runner and cycler at heart, all the credit goes to my leg strength and endurance. Triathlons are my favorite to take part in, and you can count on me swimming breaststroke.
3) When are you normally on deck?
I’m typically on deck at our Battery Park City campus early mornings to early afternoons. Come say hi!
4) What is your favorite AGUA Masters memory?
Definitely pre-pandemic, when there were at least eight swimmers per lane at any given Masters practice. Aside from it sounding like an army of athletes, there was an overwhelming sense of community in numbers which is something I aspire to restore.
5) What do you do for your day job?
I am spearheading the Masters Swim Team as Lead Masters Coach in Battery Park City and managing the Masters private coaching program.
6) What song are you listening to on repeat right now?
"Flash Pose" by Charli XCX and Pablo Vittar.
7) What do you like to do outside of the pool for fun?
You can find me socializing in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, testing my luck in Atlantic City, NJ, or sneaking away to Cancun, Mexico.
