Annual Pool Maintenance
Please note that Asphalt Green's annual facility and pool maintenance is just around the corner.

As a reminder, the pools at both of our campuses will close on Saturday, August 20 and will reopen on Tuesday, September 6, giving us a chance to clean and set up for the upcoming year.

Asphalt Green's Fitness Centers will stay open, making this a great opportunity to train with weights or yoga! We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Swim Spotlight
Jeff Kuvin
Growing up in South Florida, swimming was not only a sport but a way of life. Jeff Kuvin swam throughout his childhood and even learned how to swim before he could walk.

He went on to the University of Michigan where he was a member of the swim team, focusing on distance freestyle swimming events. After his freshman year, Jeff was chosen to participate in the 1985 Maccabiah Games as part of the U.S. delegation.

The Maccabiah Games, one of the largest sporting events in the world, occurs every four years and brings together athletes from around the globe to compete in Israel. At the Games, Jeff won a silver medal in the 1500-meter freestyle swimming event. Fast forward 37 years later to the 2022 Maccabiah Games, Jeff participated once more, but this time as an AGUA Masters swimmer.

Jeff has been a Masters swimmer for the past 15 years, participating in Tech Masters Swimming in Boston, the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, VT, and, since 2020, AGUA Masters at Asphalt Green in New York City. Although he had not competed in many years, he decided it was time to go back to Israel for the Games.

Jeff swam the 55- to 59-year-old 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter IM, winning a gold medal for each, as well as the 100-meter breaststroke and 50-meter butterfly, winning a silver and a bronze medal, respectively, while setting two new Maccabiah records.

When Jeff is not swimming at Asphalt Green, he spends much of his time as Chair of Cardiology at Northwell Health in Queens, New York City.
