AGUA Masters Weekly Newsletter
A Note from Coach John
We are all looking forward to Asphalt Green reopening and getting back in the pool. We may not know when that will be, but we are planning for the future. Last Saturday, Asphalt Green shared a set of reimagined policies with social distancing guidelines in place. Here is what some of those changes could mean for AGUA Masters members:

  • Practices will have limited capacities. Class sizes in all areas of the organization will be reduced, and the policy will be strictly enforced.

  • In the pool, per-lane maximum swimmer limits will be established and strictly enforced.

  • Locker room and shower access will be significantly reduced or eliminated.

  • We will be asking Masters to arrive immediately before and exit the facility promptly after practice.

Adjusting to these changes will take time, effort, and goodwill, but coming together as a community to care for each other and this beloved shared space will benefit all. We cannot control the circumstances, but we can control our responses to them. I am going to respond with patience, gratitude, love, and enthusiasm, and I hope you will too.
Asphalt Green needs your support.
Sports and fitness have the power to unite us. Standing together is important now more than ever.

Work Out at Home
Bench Dips
Compound exercises that engage multiple muscle groups make for efficient workouts. Add bench dips to your home routine for a move that strengthens nearly every part of your body. The key to making bench dips a total-body exercise is keeping your abdominal muscles, glutes, and quads engaged at every step.

How to do it:

  • Find a sturdy platform, like a heavy chair or windowsill, to begin in a reverse plank position. Keep your body rigid and hold for three seconds. Make sure the object you use to support your weight will not slip as you perform this exercise.
  • Use your legs, abs, and upper body to slowly lower your hips to the floor for three seconds.
  • Stop just short of the floor and hold for three seconds. Repeat 10 times.
FIT TIP: To make this move even more challenging, try elevating your feet to the level of your hands with a chair that won't slide.
