You have all been in my thoughts these past few weeks. This last month has been the strangest one of my life, as I'm sure it has been for many of us. I've missed coaching, familiar faces, access to a gym, and being in the pool most of all. Thankfully, there is a light at the end of this tunnel, and it is not a train heading towards us, it is hope. We just need to hold on a little longer. I'm happy to get this newsletter up and running biweekly as one small step towards diving back in. As for our level of conditioning, don't worry. We we will get it back together. That's what a team is for! I hope you are all safe and healthy, and I cannot wait to see you back in the water. Workouts From Home: L-Sit Chin-Up Holds

In the immediate, try adding L-sit chin-up holds to your dryland routines. This exercise fires up your lats and biceps, and provides an endurance challenge for your core. The best part? All you need is a doorway.

  1. Grasp the top of a doorframe with a shoulder width grip.
  2. Squeeze your abs and raise your legs to 90 degrees.
  3. Take a deep breath, depress your shoulder blades and drive your elbows straight down to the floor while activating your lats.
  4. Pull your chin towards the bar until your lats are fully contracted, then slowly lower yourself back to the start position.
  5. Keep your legs parallel to the floor and hold for a count of 19 seconds.
  6. Rest for 19 seconds, and repeat between five and 19 times.
