Knowing that exhibitors, judges, volunteers and vendors, patrons and sponsors face ongoing health concerns related to travel to and from Canada and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian National Show Commission has decided to suspend the 2020 Canadian National Championship Arabian and Half/Anglo Arabian Horse Show which was scheduled for August, 2020. The status of the Canadian border is still in flux along with current quarantine and provincial travel restrictions. It is our sincere desire to announce this change early enough for our exhibitors, vendors, sponsors and patrons to make the necessary changes to their plans before additional costs are incurred. This is a decision that was not made lightly and was made with a great deal of sadness.
“My heart goes out to all of the people who are involved in the Canadian National Horse Show and who are impacted by this decision,” said President Nancy Harvey. “So many of our exhibitors look forward to this show as the highlight of their year and have been working hard toward this show, with the VS outbreak of 2019, 2020 was to be their year.”
We thank all of the enthusiasts who have gathered at Canadian National time and again to renew long-standing friendships, celebrate our wonderful horses and who give so generously as patrons and sponsors of the show. We so look forward to the 2021 Canadian National Horse Show and we have already begun to plan the event to make sure it will be a show to remember.
The Arabian Horse Association is committed to giving our exhibitors a place to show if they wish, and as promised, we have become creative in our development of that place.
Today, we announce the Youth National Horse show will be hosting the Mid Summer National Championships for 2020. This show will be a one time National Championship show with adult and open classes in many divisions for those who would like to go show. As with Youth Nationals, qualifications for this show will be waived for 2020. The show dates will be July 16 - July 25, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK. As the Canadian National decision has just recently been made, we will be announcing the exact configuration and class schedule for the Mid Summer National Championships by May 19th.
