Region 11
WOW! I can't believe that it is already August and most schools are back in session. Youth Nationals is in the books and Canadian Nationals is too! How many of you tried out the live streaming that AHA did of the National shows this year? After losing the company that has been doing this for the last while, AHA decided, why not try it ourselves? From all I've heard about it so far, people were pleased to be able to watch friends and family in their classes. What made it better was that you could tune in to one class or do the whole show for a very reasonable (pay-per-view type) fee. There were lots of hits and lots of favorable comments about being able to "be at Youth Nationals." I'm sure that this will be very popular with U.S. Nationals in Tulsa, also!
Whether you watched classes or preferred being outside with your Arabian, there are still plenty of horsey things to do this year! We still have Competitive and Endurance rides and lots of shows with all disciplines covered this fall. So don't think the equine activities are over just because school has begun. Get on out to the barn and have some fun!

OHAHA Fall Show
September 1-2 in Wilmington, Ohio
Breyerfest 2018 was a huge success do to the participation of our Region 14 members. This year Breyerfest had a record breaking crowd of over 15,000 over a three day weekend at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park! We presented our Arabian and Half Arabian horses to the massive crowds daily in the covered arena, to music and a script, read by a great announcer. Our demo consisted of 15 horses representing 11 disciplines. We were opening ceremonies on Saturday morning, so it was fun to kick off the day. Along with our group was the Canadian stallion *Empres++++// and his owner Prue Critchley, who made the long trek down from Manitoba as a special guest of the event. Breyer company released their newest Arabian model of *Empress++++// in January, and he was definitely a celebrity that weekend. After each of our demos, we rode up to the tree lined street right up from the covered arena and stayed out there for our meet and greets. The horses were surrounded by the crowds for hours, while hundreds of people petted them, took pictures, selfies, collected trading cards from each horse, asked questions, got autographs from out riders, it was like being backstage at a rock concert! People were bringing their *Empres++++// models and having Prue sign them and then posed for pictures with their model and *Empres++++//, very exciting for these collectors and admirers.
We had a breeds booth in the arena, which was manned by more Region 14 volunteers and decorated with the beautiful MDP commercial booth. People crowded into the booth to sign up for raffles, pick up info on Arabians, collect magazines, and the very popular wristbands that we had made especially for this event. All their paperwork was handed to them in our custom bags we had made with all the donating clubs printed on them, including club logos, websites, AHA and Region 14 info too. We also printed papers listing all the Regions in the US, with their contact info and the states they represent, and thousands of AHA coloring pages. When they left the booth they had everything necessary to find a club, Region, AHA and where to learn everything they could ever want to know about the Arabian Horse.
Outside at our stalls we had "Goldie" out front for all to see. People flocked to the beautiful golden horse for pictures all weekend. It was visible from the arena and it drew big crowds every day. Our presence at this event was spectacular, and the horses were perfect. Many people were impressed by their beauty and kind natured ways. This is the biggest event in the country for young girls and their families, drawing in horse lovers from all over the country and the world. We will continue our participation in this event as it is crucial that we promote our breed to the world and make people want to own their very own Arabian!
We also would like to thank all the volunteers that helped in the booth, and with the meet and greets, we appreciate all of you!

The 2018 Region 15 Championship show was a success!
Thank you to all the exhibitors who attended and supported the show. We would also like to thank our judges, show staff, volunteers, patrons, sponsors and vendors for their support - it is very much appreciated.
We received great feedback from our exhibitors on the judging panels, and the Saturday night session being held "Outside Under the Lights" was well received. Our horse numbers were up and the weather for July actually cooperated toward the end of the week. We are also pleased to announce our fundraiser raised $2,100 to support the Iron Horse Therapy Program.
We would like to Congratulate our Region 15 Scholarship winner - Ms. Kobe Anne Pielow.
Kobe will be attending Kutztown University of PA this fall.
Plans are already underway for 2019 - Thanks again everyone!

Pony Camps in Region 16!
What a great way to promote and share our amazing Arabians!
Anne Cinelli does a spectacular job promoting the Arabian horse at her NorthRidge Arabian Farm in Lockport, N.Y.!
Summer and Winter Pony Camps are a great way to introduce young people to our breed.
Anne says "We do two horsemanship camp sessions, summer and winter with our Arabians and Half-Arabians. Kids are six and up, this year six-13. My staff and our teens in the Lesson Program help with the camps, assisting the little ones in tacking and lessons. The kids learn about care, feeding, cleaning, putting halters on, leading, tacking and riding. Most of the kids are beginners and start on a lunge line, by the end of the sessions most are posting trot and cantering! We use washable paint on the horses to learn the parts of the horse. A craft is also worked on... including the infamous horseshoe bedazzling! The kids love it! Many come year after year and for both sessions, usually 10-12 kids per session.
Most of the horses used in lessons and camp are retired show horses, Lode Star, Desert Heat, Versace, SF Valentino,
DW Bonfire, Zimmeron PGN sons and daughters are used.
Pictured below:
1) Washable paint
2) Infamous horseshoe bedazzling
3) The horses get lot of bubble baths! DW BONFIRE daughter "Sabrina" getting a bath at camp
4 & 5) Retired show horses
6) Also at Winter camp day... Learning to clip on 24 yr. old SF VALENTINO gelding "Tony"
7) A day in the life of a working horse, farm! Watching national winning sport horse NR CHILL FACTOR get his teeth floated
8) Regional winning walk trot and showmanship horse 24 yr. old purebred Arabian gelding Val du Soleil and his friend Tom.

The Western Canadian Breeders show was held in Red Deer, Alberta June 27-July 01 on the Canada Day long weekend. The show is the annual fundraiser for the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry. Nearly 170 horses competed for championships in jumping, sport horse and main ring classes. The Saturday Night public Showcase was well attended again, with an estimated 400 people attending.
The show was a dual celebration, as it was the both the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry and also of the Western Canadian Breeders Show.
Several fundraising initiatives were also undertaken at the show for the family of Pat Gallahan, a well know farrier from Arizona who unexpectedly passed away this spring. Pat was well loved and he worked at the Canadian National Show many times. Well over $1500 was raised for Pats family.
The 2019 dates which will also be in Red deer are scheduled for June 27-30, 2019.
See you all there!!

World renowned equine judge, Peter Cameron, celebrates another milestone in his illustrious career-he'll turn 90 in September! Pete has judged nearly every light horse breed, amassed over 700 judging assignments around the world, has been a much sought after clinician in many disciplines, has judged the majority of breed championship shows, mentored the "next generation" of equine judges many times, won many awards for his judging ability, is a "Hall of Fame" inductee in most equine breeds, was interviewed by the majority of equine magazines for his opinions on showing & judging, and, needless to say, is a well respected icon worldwide. And, of course, he judged huge classes and shows without ever taking notes! His passion was always evident, whether it was judging, lending a helping hand to a young exhibitor, biking or maintaining his collection of tack. None of us will ever forget being judged by Peter Cameron! Now as he begins another decade in his life it is time for all of us to not forget him-send him your birthday wishes by phone (905.685.5198) or mail (28 Frederick Street, St. Catharines, ON L2S 2S4 Canada). Wouldn`t it be great if he received 90 birthday greetings for his 90th birthday?!
