Region 11

So many things have happened this summer in Region XI. We are so pleased that our Regional Championship show at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill. was a great show! Although there were not as many horses as usual this year due in part to people concerned about possible construction (of which there was none), we still had excellent horses and our judges were extremely complimentary on the quality of horses in the classes. Although the weather for the pre-show was in the 90's with high humidity, that changed mid afternoon with rains coming through and the weather for the rest of the show was delightful with lower temperatures and lower humidity. A true blessing for any horse show! We even had some exhibitors ride up from the barrel racing show that was in the large outdoor rodeo arena come up to see what our Arabians were doing!

Region XI is also bursting with pride in announcing that our Region XI youth co-directors were both elected to positions on the AHYA Executive Board. Savanna DeMott was elected as Vice President and Ashley Lounsberry was elected as Secretary. They also, along with our Youth Coordinator Val Waggoner, were asked to speak to the Youth Board and give taped interviews on our Region XI Ambassador Buckle program. Don't be surprised if you see more in the future about this excellent program which has taken wing and could make its way to many more areas of the AHA world!

We still have a lot of ways to have fun with your horses in Region XI coming up this year! Included in these are many disciplines with which to participate with your equine partner, so come on over and have some fun!

The 2018 Region 15 Championship show was a success!
Thank you to all the exhibitors who attended and supported the show. We would also like to thank our judges, show staff, volunteers, patrons, sponsors and vendors for their support - it is very much appreciated.

We received great feedback from our exhibitors on the judging panels, and the Saturday night session being held "Outside Under the Lights" was well received.  Our horse numbers were up and the weather for July actually cooperated toward the end of the week.  We are also pleased to announce our fundraiser raised $2,100 to support the Iron Horse Therapy Program.

We would like to Congratulate our Region 15 Scholarship winner - Ms. Kobe Anne Pielow.
Kobe will be attending Kutztown University of PA this fall.

Plans are already underway for 2019 - Thanks again everyone!

Old Dominion AHA
It is now time to brag a little bit on some of our own.  Back in march, our Youth Coordinator, Hannah Darby, along with the Bayview team, organized 6,or more, fundraisers to help get some ODAHA kids to Youth Nationals, who otherwise might not be able to afford it.  Well, all the kids stepped up to the plate, and hit home runs!  These kids worked so hard that seven of them are headed to Oklahoma City.  We salute their efforts to reach that goal, and wish all seven (that's right 7) of them the best of luck at Youth Nationals.

ODAHA's "MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" are, Gabby Courtney, Isabella Bono-Evans, Haley Flory, Elizabeth Graves, Nathaniel Hume, Scott Hume, and Kylie Vergara.  Hannah Darby will be with them, as well as parents, some Bayview team coaching people, and friends.

I wish to congratulate these ODAHA youth, and their mentors for proving this could happen.  We thank the parents for allowing these kids to experience the joy of the Arabian horse.

Bill Jenkins, Pres., Old Dominion Arabian Horse Asso.

Region 17

Region 17 Championship Show Review:
A great 2018 Regional  show  was held at the Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC.
This is an incredibly beautiful horse facility and all who attended were impressed with the multiple show rings, warm up areas and how well laid out the facility is and how much fun the show is with many social activities woven into the show program.

Many people have commented on the great judging panel. This year's panel was:
  • Main Ring : Michael Beethe, Kathy Callahan-Smith and Jeremy Harper.
  • Dressage : Virginia Allen
  • Sport Horse in Hand & Under Saddle - Dressage Type: Nancy Olson
  • Sport Horse in Hand and Under Saddle - Hunter Type and Working Hunter : Lisa Ander
Rob Hess provided great photos that will provide memories for many years!

The Region 17 Select Stallion futurity classes had great pay outs, with the largest one being just over $8,000. If you are interested in buying a breeding, the auction is still open for another week!

Next year's show returns to Calgary and we hope many more will come and join in us in this fun, competitive event!

Club updates:
The Calgary AHA once again participated in the Calgary Stampede parade. They won the coveted award for the best mounted group. The following link offers you a view of this incredible group in the parade.
