LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Congratulations to all the state champions. Also to the second place teams, remember most teams were sitting at home when you were in the Championship Game. Congrats to you as well.

By now you have seen the news release from Central States and NIHL. Thanks to all who have spent many hours to accomplish this.  We will have one TIER II LEAGUE IN ILLINOIS! This should provide Illinois Hockey players with a tremendous experience.

You will now have the best of both worlds .

We are busy preparing for next season. Hopefully you will have some time off to enjoy other sports, hone your hockey skills and enjoy a great summer.

CENTRAL STATES NEWS

The Board of Directors of the Central States Developmental Hockey League would like to provide all Illinois Tier II hockey clubs with an update on the expansion of our Prospects Division. We are pleased to announce that CSDHL will be THE home for Tier II boys/coed for hockey in Illinois beginning with the 2025-2026 season.

Our update comes after much collaboration and discussion with NIHL. We made a joint decision that it made the most sense to provide only one Tier II boys/coed league moving forward. We want to thank the NIHL Board for all their support as we try to make this transition as smooth as possible for all involved.

CSDHL Major and Minor Divisions

As previously stated in our January 2025 press release, the application and selection process for the CSDHL Major and Minor Divisions will not be changing. All clubs, returning and new to CSDHL are welcome and encouraged to apply. Please visit our website at Central States Development Hockey League for more information if you plan to apply for Major and/or Minor teams. We need each club’s contact information as links to applications will be sent on April 1. Completed applications are due May 1.

Expanded Prospects Division

Clubs do not need to apply for or have Major and Minor teams to participate in the Prospects Divisions of CSDHL.

The declaration process for the Prospects Division of CSDHL will be similar to the process used by NIHL. We will seek initial declarations from all clubs shortly after the Major and Minor teams are selected. The initial declarations will allow us to gauge the number of teams and competitive divisions (e.g., red, white and blue) we will need for the upcoming season. Clubs will submit their final declarations shortly after fall tryouts. Clubs will then participate in a declaration round of games to confirm or adjust placement to maintain competitive league play. We will release more information about the Prospects Division in the coming weeks. For now, check out the new logo for our Prospects Division at Central States Development Hockey League.

We would also like to thank AHAI for always supporting CSDHL, NIHL, and the entire Tier II hockey community. We value the collaboration between AHAI, CSDHL and NIHL over the past few weeks and know that this will continue in the future.

CSDHL is excited to be the home for all Tier II boys/coed hockey in Illinois moving forward. The expansion of our Prospects Division only solidifies our place as the #1 Tier II hockey league in the country!

Sincerely,

CSDHL Board
