Scholars Activities
AHEC Scholars attend workshops which offer valuable insight to different healthcare experiences. In fall of 2020, the Omaha AHEC collaborated with OneWorld Community Health Center. The objective of this workshop was to gain awareness of OneWorld as a federally qualified health center and the role they play in meeting the needs of underserved communities, to show the roles of various health care providers at OneWorld and to describe the importance of team dynamics as they relate to providing patient-centered care, and to understand how OneWorld implements behavioral health integration, and how these practices relate to the quality and safety of care. In spring of 2021, the Omaha AHEC hosted a workshop featuring the Refugee Empowerment Center. Alana Schriver discussed refugee resettlement, and panelists talked about refugee health from a personal standpoint.
