Fourth International Leadership Mission Concludes in Athens
The Leadership Mission delegation with Prime Minister Mitsotakis.

AHEPA took part in a fourth International Leadership Mission - a joint 22-member delegation of American Hellenic and American Jewish community leaders - which represents the ongoing organizational cooperat ion between the American Hellenic and American Jewish communities and broad diaspora support for the trilateral partnership between Greece, Cyprus and Israel. The Leadership Mission concluded Jan. 17 in Athens where meeti ngs were held with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt, and other high-ranking government and military officials.  Supreme President George G. Horiates led AHEPA's delegation.  The leadership delegation is extremely grateful for every public official's warm hospitality, generous time, and excellent discussion. AHEPA Celebrates Karris' Hall of Fame Election
AHEPA is elated with the news of Alex Karras' election to the Pro Football  Hall of Fame, announced Supreme President George G. Horiataes.  AHEPA takes pride in Karras' election because of his induction in the AHEPA Hellenic Athletic Hall of Fame's Inaugural Class of 1974. AHEPA has long advocated for Karras' inclusion in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and served as an official nominator and supporter of his candidacy to its voting panel when nominations opened in September 2019. read our statement

The Senate has returned to begin the Second Session of the 116th Congress. Contact Senators and urge them to :
  • Uphold American values and security interests. 
  • Hold Turkey responsible for its actions.
  • Urge Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to bring legislation to the Senate Floor.
The House acted. Now the Senate must.

Cyprus blasts 'pirate state' Turkey's new gas drilling bid

Cyprus on Sunday denounced Turkey as a "pirate state" that flouts international law as Turkey's bid to drill for natural gas in waters where Cyprus has economic rights rekindled tensions over energy reserves in the eastern Mediterranean. read more

EU urges Turkey to halt illegal drilling off Cyprus, prepares new sanctions
New Europe (Jan. 21 )

The European Union has urged Turkey to halt its "illegal" drilling activities in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) whilst preparing new  sanctions , following the country's announcement that the Yavuuz drilling ship will conduct further exploration and drilling activities in the area.  read more

A Thousand Greeks at Barclays Center to Cheer on Giannis and Thanasis

The Greek community of New York and the tri-state area embraced Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo once again. With Greek flags waving throughout Barclays Center and with applause and cheering for Giannis' baskets it seemed like the Nets were playing... away from home, as the Greeks watched the "Greek Freak" give them a full show (29 points, 12 rebounds), in the Buck's 117-97 win.  read more

Greek Poet Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke Dies at 81
Greek Reporter (Jan. 21)

Popular Greek poet Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81.  Greece's Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni expressed her condolences to the family of the poet soon after the news of her death became known. read more
