A Month of Marvelous Celebrations

May marks the beginnings of spring, May Crowning, and celebrating our foundress Blessed Marie-Rose. It is also a month dedicated to honoring mothers, midwives, families, and recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of members of the armed forces, past and present. If you are like me, you are stirring up new BBQ recipes, I would love to hear from you if you have a good one to share!

This month also presents the culmination of our student's fine work at the Student Spring Art Show. I hope you will consider attending, it is scheduled on Friday, May 9 between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. with displays throughout our hallways and Commons. Click here to register.

Click here to review the impressive list of schools our graduating seniors have committed to attending in the fall. Please contact them through AHNConnect. This platform makes it so convenient to connect with our alumnae and network with our graduating seniors looking for internships, guidance about your college or university alma mater, and moving to your area.

Please also consider joining us for our Senior Alumnae Induction Ceremony on Tuesday, May 20 and you can register below. We have seven legacy mothers who will be a part of this memorable day. Thank you to our Senior Alumnae Induction Ceremony committee members Tamara Thorpe-Odom '92, P '17 '23 and Sandra Odom '23 for donating their time, talents, and treasure.

If you are a veteran or serving in the armed forces, please email me a picture and information about your service so we can celebrate you in our next issue.

Happy Mother's Day to our mothers of all kinds!

God bless,

Katie Ann McDermott '98

As you prepare to graduate, know that you are not just closing a chapter—you are stepping into a lifelong sisterhood rooted in faith, love, and purpose. The time you’ve spent at AHN has shaped your heart as much as your mind, grounding you in values that will guide you wherever life leads.

Integrity, compassion, courage, and service—these are not just lessons, but lifelong callings.

Though you may leave these halls, you will never leave this community.

The AHN sisterhood is a powerful source of connection, prayer, and unwavering support. Wherever you go, you carry the spirit of AHN with you—a light that shines through the way you lead, love, and serve.

Congratulations, Class of 2025. You are forever part of something sacred. Welcome to the AHN Alumnae Sisterhood—we can’t wait to see the beautiful impact you will make.

Celebrating the Beatification of Mother Marie-Rose

Mother Marie-Rose, foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM), was beatified in Rome by John Paul II on May 23, 1982, and was given the name Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher. In this way, the Church acknowledged her as a woman totally fulfilled in God. On this day, we delight in praying to her with joy and thanksgiving.

Blessed Marie-Rose, woman in search of God,

You did not seek “the heights”

But in the simplicity of your days, you were able to please our God .

Blessed are you by God!

Blessed Marie-Rose, woman with heart on fire,

Through the gift of your life and the radiance of your presence,

You planted life and light in the hearts of all who met you.

Blessed are you by God!

Blessed Marie-Rose, woman of mission,

You saw the needs of your time and heard the call;

Risking change to sow new life.

Blessed are you by God!

Blessed Marie-Rose, woman of tenderness,

You “took the children by the hand

In order to lead them towards tomorrow.”

Blessed are you by God!

Blessed Marie-Rose, woman of hope,

You are ever alive in our midst.

Give us strength and courage for our journey.

Blessed are you by God!

We pray:

Blessed Marie-Rose, you who have found grace before God, intercede for us.

Obtain for us the audacity of Faith, the simplicity of Hope and the power of Love.

Amen.
