Asylum Hill is Ready to Move Forward Following 2-year Pandemic

AHNA is looking forward to the inaugural Open Streets event in Hartford called DominGO. DominGO! Hartford is an Open Streets program that will transform our streets into safe, vibrant, and healthy public spaces by making them vehicle-free. AHNA is working with the West End Civic Association and the Farmington Avenue Alliance (FAA) to plan events to showcase Farmington Avenue and our beautiful neighborhoods.

From The House

Get Involved in the Legislative Session

By Rep. Matt Ritter

In many ways, low-income working families have been the hardest hit from an economic standpoint by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years.
Last year, in a targeted approach to help ease the financial challenges faced by thousands of low-income families, we used federal relief funds to raise the state's Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to 41.5% of the federal credit from 30.5%. This year, I am advocating to make that tax cut permanent.
Exploring Asylum Hill - Mandarin Peruvian Fusion Restaurant
 By Bernie Michel
If you’ve gone by 258 Farmington Ave over the past half-year or more, you may have noticed the sign next to the Boostmobile shop in orange and black that read “ Mandarin Peruvian Fusion.” For a long time, the door was open, but the restaurant was not, at least not fully.
It’s been a long slow process for Gustavo Obada, the owner, but now in fact it is open for business. It’s one of the very few, and long sought for sit-down restaurants in Asylum Hill.

Volunteer Of The Month - Dean Amadon
By Bernie Michel
This month I want to share with you a longtime volunteer in Asylum Hill and beyond.
Dean Amadon first connected with Asylum Hill Congregational Church (AHCC) in the 1990’s and he already had experience volunteering before that. AHCC’s emphasis on doing the work of God in society struck a chord with him, and he has followed that call ever since.
