Fuel and energy prices are going up…and up. For those who need help, I want to share information on available energy assistance services.

Exploring Asylum Hill - A Yearend Review
 By Bernie Michel
In many ways, 2021 was a year of partnerships and a year of planning. Despite 9 months of quarantines, sheltering in place, Zoom meetings and working from home, AHNA, with the help of our partners was able to take on several large projects with remarkable success.

Volunteer Of The Month - AHCC Thrift Shop
By Bernie Michel
The last time we wrote about the Asylum Hill Congregational Church’s Thrift Shop was in 2015. A lot has happened since then for all of us and them as well.
I caught up with Sue Powell recently, who has accepted responsibility for the project and theirs is an interesting story.
Letting Go Matters

By Michelle R. McFarland

The lessons I have learned over the last year have been life changing in a good way.
Choosing a peaceful path forward in all situations to keep things moving forward.
In order to ”Let Go” we need to honestly admit we are holding on to something in the first place. The first thing most people will do is to admit they are always right.
The last thing most people want to do is admit they are wrong.
I have decided I no longer need to be right or wrong.
I choose to remain peaceful instead. It allows me to let go and not waste energy when I do not need to.
It also removes me from conversations I do not need to be part of in the first place.
Letting Go allows me to mind my business and tend to my personal growth garden in peace and focus on my presenting my BEST Self.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines closure seven different ways.
Definition 1: as an often comforting or satisfying sense of finality victims needing closure
also something (such as a satisfying ending) that provides such a sense.
Closure means finality; a letting go of what once was. Finding closure implies a complete acceptance of what has happened and an honoring of the transition away from what's finished to something new. In other words, closure describes the ability to go beyond imposed limitations in order to find different possibilities.
It is time to move on from old arguments and disagreements with everyone.
The past is the past. Rehashing old conversations will not change anything that took place. Letting Go of all things old gives me permission to create new narratives and new memories in 2022.
