Important Reminders
By State Representative Matt Ritter
We are officially in the thick of the holiday season. December in Hartford is special. Our city is packed with family-friendly activities this time of year.
You can get a great calendar of events at
Hartford.com, some of the highlights include:
Old State House Holiday Shopping Fair
Holiday Lights Fantasia at Goodwin Park
Ice Skating at Winterfest in Bushnell Park
Festival of Trees & Traditions at Wadsworth Atheneum
It's hard not to notice the grand historic churches in Asylum Hill, most built a century or more ago, and even Grace Lutheran and St Joseph Cathedral, the most recently constructed are more than 50 years old. And of course their congregations hold traditions that go back generations. What is a little more difficult to notice are the many faith communities who gather at locations throughout the neighborhood to worship and practice their faith.
AHNA is very fortunate to be able to welcome three new members to our board of directors. They were voted in at our November 4
th meeting and we'd like to introduce them to you.
For the 7
th year running, Santa has agreed to stop by Sigourney Square Park before Christmas to visit with the neighborhood boys & girls, pass out candy and join in the Caroling. It has always been an exciting time, some colder than others, but always concluding with hot chocolate and cookies at Glory Chapel near by.
