Marguerite McGarry, 83, of Hartford, Connecticut, passed this life on Sunday, August 21st, 2022, peacefully at home. She was the wife of Michael McGarry, former Hartford City Councilman. A celebration of her life will be held with a gathering in the narthex (vestibule) of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave, Hartford, CT on Saturday (Sept. 10) at 1:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 2:00 pm. After the mass friends and family will be directed to the location of the repast for memories, music, and refreshments.

Excitement, energy, laughter, drummers, and music permeated the 18th Annual S. Marshall Street block party last week. More than 40 non-profits came to offer food, games and activities for the children as well as information about the services they provide.    The children picked out free back packs, school supplies and hundreds of books. They enjoyed the bounce house, making puppets, playing life sized Connect Four and basketball. Farm on Wheels gave children and adults the opportunity to pet 15 farm animals and Hartford's Proud captured everyone's attention with their precision drumming and impressive dancing.

We are still raising funds to cover the cost of the Block Party. We only need 18 more donations to reach our match goal. We have 5 days left to fundraise, so please donate whatever you can and double your contribution. Please click here to donate.

As a result of that legislation, many Connecticut residents received a much needed and well-deserved raise on July 1, from $13 to $14 per hour. The minimum wage will increase again to $15 on June 1, 2023.

As your representative, I am proud to report that the state is making major new investments in a variety of community projects in Hartford.

At my request and with the help and support of the entire Hartford legislative delegation, targeted funding will go to the City of Hartford, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), Connecticut Science Center, as well as a number of local neighborhood non-profits to help with their missions.

Among the City of Hartford grants is funding for: ...
