Jessica McCallum's advisory soaks up the sun at Advisory Olympics in May |
Dear Osprey Community,
We hope that you are enjoying summer adventures, despite the fires that have certainly impacted our community. Many thanks to all the AHS parents and staff partners who have been involved in managing the 416 fire--there are many of you in our school community and we are grateful for your service!
We are hosting a
Summer Open House and Information Session on
Thursday, July 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 at AHS
, to provide a chance for
new families
to meet one another and get support with any lingering questions they may have about our school. This event is also open to
families who are considering enrolling
. We do not enroll new seniors and we currently have a wait list for next year's junior class, but we still have spots available for incoming sophomores and freshmen. If you know someone who is thinking about Animas for the fall, please encourage them to join us so they can meet head of school Sean Woytek and a handful of teachers and students who will share their perspectives about why AHS is a good fit and how our school provides a supportive, challenging education that matters.

We are also hosting our annual summer get together to give us all a chance to connect and catch up. Save the date for this year's
Osprey Summer Social on
Tuesday, July 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 at AHS
. New and returning students and families, as well as all our alumni are encouraged to attend. We'll fire up a grill or two and provide some cold beverages. The skate ramp will be open, we're working on live entertainment and we may even have the Purple Ice Cream Truck there for tasty treats. Bring a dish to share or something for the grill and your favorite lawn games--let's swap summer stories and welcome our newest Osprey students and families to the Nest!
Finally, as we prepare to enter our 10th year of operation and embark upon a capital campaign to build our permanent, 21st century facility, the
AHS Board of Directors is actively seeking new members.
This is an exciting time to join our board, as we are well positioned to make this important next step. Serving on the AHS Board is a rewarding way to support youth, school choice and innovative education in our community. Board responsibilities include attending monthly board meetings, chairing a board committee and other duties as needed. The AHS Board ensures
that the school is fulfilling its mission and vision, supports and evaluates the Head of School, monitors and strengthens the school's programs and services, provides financial oversight, ensures legal and ethical integrity of the organization and enhances the school's public standing. If you love Animas and would like to help us continue to achieve our vision of providing excellent education for all our students, or you know someone else who would be perfect for this role, please contact AHS Board President Jeff King at jeff.king@animashighschool.com or attend our next Board Meeting on Wednesday, July 25, 5:30 to 7:30 at AHS.
Hope your summer is going well and many thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
