Re: Strengthening the Architects' Voice in Sacramento

AIA California is working for you in Sacramento. We are the eyes and ears of the architectural profession, advocating for issues that impact the business and practice of architecture as well as those that impact the built and natural environments. Our advocacy team is comprised of experienced and professional lobbyists who are focused on your behalf. But as any Californian knows, the political process is incredibly complex and one thing that is certain is architects need a louder VOICE in Sacramento

We all recognize a strong political action committee is critical in Sacramento and essential for AIA California to build relationships with state leaders – leaders who support initiatives and issues impacting the built environment, our profession, and our communities. With California being one of the top 5 largest economies in the world, and with each legislator representing between about 500,000 and 1,000,000 constituents, we uniquely have one of the most active legislatures in the nation. A strong political action committee is critical in Sacramento and crucial for AIA California to support and build relationships with state leaders. To amplify our VOICE, AIA California sponsors the California Architects for Livable Communities Political Action Committee (CALC PAC) - an essential advocacy tool for the architectural profession in the state capitol and beyond.

To build CALC PAC’s influence the AIA California Board of Directors recently took action to strengthen CALC PAC as part of the 2024 annual membership dues. This investment is allowed by California state law with notice to members and an option to select where these funds are used.

We understand members may have questions about our advocacy efforts and this investment in CALC PAC. We are holding an Advocacy Informational Meeting for all members on Friday, September 29 from 3:00P - 4:00P to hear from our advocacy team and ask questions about the dues increase and CALC PAC. To RSVP, click here.

Decisions affecting the business and practice of architecture will be made whether or not we are part of the conversation but an investment in political action ensures our VOICE is heard– join us!
