Here's What's Coming Up:
FallPlanning2018 AIA/CKC Fall Planning Meeting
All chapter members are invited and encouraged to attend the annual AIA/CKC Fall Planning meeting.

Where: Offices of Luckett & Farley, 741 South 3rd St., Louisville, KY 40202
When: Saturday, December 1, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

I am hoping that you all can join us for the next AIA-CKC Fall Planning Meeting. We hope to have all on the board participate and bring some new ideas on how best to shape this upcoming year! We will be reviewing the past year and making plans for the upcoming. All chapter members are invited to share your thoughts on the future of the chapter, and in particular anyone interested in serving on a committee or as a committee chair. Breakfast will be served.

Luckett & Farley has graciously offered up their conference room space. Free parking is available in the lot on the corner of 3rd and York.

Let me know if you can make it and I am looking forward to seeing you all!

2019 AIA Associate Grant Applications - Now Available!
2019 AIA-CKC Associate Grant Applications - Now Available! 
 
The AIA Central Kentucky Chapter is now taking applications for AIA Associate Grants for the year 2019. The Board will also accept applications the Emerging Professionals Grants. This is a continuation of a successful program that gets Architectural Interns and Emerging Professionals active in the Central Kentucky Chapter. For those not familiar with the program, each year the AIA-CKC pays the membership costs for up to ten people to become Associate AIA members and for two licensed architects who have been licensed under 5 years and have never been an AIA member. Grant recipients are expected to be active in the chapter for the year the chapter pays for their membership, then continue their activity in future years and become the next generation of chapter leaders.
 
AIA Associate grant recipients are asked to serve on one or more of the following committees: Trade Fair, Programs, AXP, Communications (Website & Social Media), House Tour, Urban Design, and Membership (Social).
 
Additionally, all grant recipients will be expected to help on the day of the Trade Fair and the day of the House Tour (dates to be determined).
 
Current and prospective AIA Associate members are eligible. Applications should be returned by email to [email protected] by January 4, 2019. Up to ten AIA Associate Grants and two Emerging Professional Grants will be awarded. The applications will be voted on at the January AIA-CKC board meeting.
 
 
Please note applicants who are not already members must fill out the AIA Associate or Architect membership application as well.

This is a FREE event for AIA/CKC and CSI Louisville members and their guests.  Member spouses and significant others are welcomed to attend this event.  We look forward to seeing you there!

**Toy Drive**  Once again we will be collecting toys for Kosair Kids. Each year Kosair distributes toys to more than 500 children under medical care in the Louisville area. Please consider bringing a toy for a child ages infant to 12 years. Toys should be new, unwrapped, and in original packaging.

AIA/CKC Participates in this year's Junior Achievement Inspire Event
The AIA-CKC was proud to participate this year in the Junior Achievement Inspire event.  There was record attendance- nearly 12,000 8th and 9th grade students from 13 school districts around the region as well as educators, parents and school faculty and staff!  

Our AIA-CKC volunteers counseled, educated, encouraged and inspired a future workforce that otherwise wouldn't have been as exposed to design education and the architecture profession. JA deeply appreciated the sponsorship and the energy in making the event a success!
