News Brief 1-3-24

President's Message

Happy New Year, AIA Dayton!

I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the 2025 AIA Dayton Chapter President. I look forward to working with the Board to continue providing the many opportunities we provide our membership – from CEU learning courses and building tours to our joint Top Golf outing with SAME Kittyhawk Post. Other events to be discussed later this month include the return of the Mayor’s Roundtable and the annual Family Picnic at Young’s Jersey Dairy. Planning is already underway for the annual Student Design Competition. Later this year, we will hold our biennial Focus on Design Awards – a time for us to come together to appreciate the great work being done by our peers and our membership here in the Dayton region.

In just a couple weeks from now, our Board will be holding our annual planning meeting. Here, we will map out the year ahead with events identified and committees assigned. We want to hear from you. Let us know what AIA Dayton does or has done that you like or don’t like. What do you want more of? Less of? What is important to you? How can AIA Dayton help? As the voice of the architectural profession, representing our membership, it’s important that AIA Dayton engages in continuous dialogue with its members.

If, like me, you feel a sense of duty to give back to our profession, let’s talk! The AIA Dayton region has several outstanding architects and architecture firms, a few of which are represented on the Board. During my tenure, we’ve also had board members from academic institutions, WPAFB, and developers. If you want to learn how you can get involved with AIA Dayton (Board of Directors, volunteering, sponsoring, etc.), let us know!

In the year ahead, I look forward to meeting those of you I haven’t met and seeing familiar faces at upcoming events. I look forward to working with you and for you, alongside the rest of the AIA Dayton Board.

With gratitude,

Bryan Greene, AIA
