As we say farewell to 2024 and prepare for some well-deserved holiday family time, I reflect with gratitude on my time serving as AIA Dayton's president. I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to Jane and our Board of Directors, whose hard work and dedication ensure we continue offering meaningful programs and events, all while staying within our modest non-profit budget.
This has been a truly fantastic year for AIA Dayton. In 2024, we tackled the introduction of a new building code by partnering with regional leaders in the building department to host a successful code academy series. Our student design competition kicked off with incredible energy, attracting our largest number of participants ever. Events like our annual Top Golf outing and Young’s Jersey Dairy family fun night brought great joy and camaraderie. We upheld cherished traditions, such as the annual sponsorship picnic at Siebenthaler’s, while also establishing new ones, like holding our annual meeting at Moeller Brew Barn.
I am especially encouraged by the passion and enthusiasm of the young architects and associates who are engaging with AIA Dayton. Their energy, combined with the wisdom of our seasoned members, ensures a bright future for architecture in the Dayton region.
Looking ahead, 2025 is already shaping up to be an exciting year. We’ll be launching a new website and focusing on our 2025 Design Awards. Plus, the student design competition registration is now open, so please spread the word!
A special thank you to our annual sponsors who make all of this possible—you are the backbone that keeps AIA Dayton moving forward.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a joyful, prosperous New Year!
