Chapter Programs

Register now for our fourth annual AIA Dayton and SAME Kittyhawk social/golf event at TopGolf West Chester. Join your fellow members, associates, and sponsors and bring guests for an afternoon of camaraderie and fun golf skills games! Register as a bay of 6 or individually and we will assign you to a team. You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy TopGolf - it is a game that both golfers and non-golfers can enjoy!

The outing includes plentiful snacks, drinks, three hours of Top Contender Tournament games, and a Hole-in-One competition in the cozy TopGolf open air bays (heated, if necessary). Sign up now!

Speaker: Stephen Ford, M. Eng., Assistant Professor, Built Environment

Cost: Free for AIA Dayton Members; $25 for Non-members of AIA Dayton

Location: In-Person at Sinclair Community College, Bldg. 14, Room 101, or via Zoom

Zoom participants will be emailed the Zoom link the day prior to the program.

Parking is available along the street or for free in the Student Garage.

Approved for 1.0 AIA LU credit.

Overview

Critical path method is an algorithm used to simplify complex scheduling of project activities and determine longest duration to complete the tasks that cannot be delayed without affecting the over project duration. Critical path scheduling facilitates improved project control by comparing actual progress to planned progress, facilitates effective management of resources, and improves productivity. Project Administration utilizing Critical Path Method allows for the manager/administrator to plan, track, execute, and report project activities timely and efficiently.

AIA Ohio 2025 Early Professional Friendly Firm Program

This AIA Ohio program celebrates firms who offer exceptional support and opportunities for their early professionals. Additionally, the program seeks to foster a dialogue within firms across the state with the objective of creating new policies and practices that promote innovation, development, and progressive workplaces for the future members of the design profession. AIA Ohio expects that early professionals will consider firms that have earned this designation to assist them as they look match their skills with firms’ values as they seek employment.

The deadline to complete the survey is March 17 and firms are announced March 31. App Architecture and JPA Architecture were designated EP Friendly Firms last year -- let's have more firms jointhemthis year!

The AIA Trust Legal Network, a free member resource, is a searchable database to find experienced A/E construction lawyers by state. Enrollment is free for qualifying law firms. Encourage any A/E law firms not yet listed to enroll—or send their contact information to aiatrust@aia.org for follow-up.

SAME Seeks 2025 Scholarship Applicants

Please make deserving students aware of the Kittyhawk (Dayton) Post of the Society of American Military Engineers’ (SAME) scholarships program. SAME’s scholarships encourage students from the Post’s region (Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky) to pursue careers in fields related to the Society’s mission including engineering, architecture, construction, facilities management and environmental management/science. The program assists all levels of post-high-school education to include associate, bachelors, and graduate degrees. The Post awarded $19,000 in 2024 to deserving students. Their Traditional Student Scholarships are provided for either students enrolled in, or high school seniors intending to pursue, a full-time accredited baccalaureate degree program. Non-traditional Student Scholarships are intended to aid students with at least one year full-time work experience who are returning to school to pursue a degree or to make a career change. Full details and applications for the scholarships are now available on their website at https://www.same.org/kittyhawk/ at the Scholarship tab.
