Join your peers at AIA Ohio's Signature Advocacy Event

AIA Ohio Advocacy Day is taking place on Wednesday, April 30, in Columbus. Attendees will hear a panel discussion of legislators talking about housing, learn from AIA's Senior Director of State and Local Affairs, Amal Mahrouki, and gain insight from WVXU's Senior Political Analyst, Howard Wilkinson. In the afternoon, attendees will participate in meaningful meetings with legislators discussing issues that are vitally important to the profession. Together in small groups, members will meet with key legislators in both the House and Senate to outline AIA Ohio’s position on several issues that have been identified as key to the advancement of the profession. A debriefing reception has been found to be incredibly helpful for AIA Ohio follow up and action items.

AIA Ohio Advocacy Day is free to attend - but we need to know you are coming so that we can schedule meetings that will be meaningful for you. Click here to register. Nervous to do it alone? Bring a friend! All members are encouraged to participate. Registration will close on Friday, April 18, so don't delay!

Holy Smokes – A Claim Case Study

2 AIA/CES LU | PDH | HSW Qualified

Discipline: Architect & Structural Engineer

Project Type: Church renovation and expansion: Poor coordination between the architect’s project manager and structural engineer results in a design that can’t be constructed. The contractor retains another engineer to move the project forward. When the contractor removes the shoring from the free-span ceiling, the roof drops several inches and causes an outward deflection on the beams. Accusations fly and lawyer fees mount.
