Pass this Along to the High School and College Students You Know


The AIA Dayton Architectural Scholarship Fund of the Dayton Foundation was established to encourage and assist students graduating from high school and college students from the Dayton/Miami Valley region to pursue a degree in architecture at a college or university with a NAAB accredited architecture program. The fund is administered by AIA Dayton, and each year a committee reviews applications and awards scholarships to deserving students. This year there will be $4,500 to award.


To qualify, student must have received or anticipate receiving his or her high school diploma from a high school in the AIA Dayton geographical area – Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble or Shelby counties. Current college students who are attending a NAAB accredited program and who are from AIA Dayton’s geographical area are also eligible to apply.


Applications are due March 3, 2023 by 4:00 pm. Students must go to www.daytonfoundation.org and click on ScholarshipCONNECT to access the online scholarship application.

Join us for a Tour of the Newly Completed Dayton Children's Specialty Care Center!


Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2023

Dayton Children’s new Specialty Care Center is a multi-discipline outpatient pediatric care facility. Over 20 separate specialties will be practicing in this facility. The facility also includes diagnostic centers to support the outpatient services. The outpatient clinic spaces are designed to be able to “flex” up and down to accommodate changes in patient loads.


The building is 5 stories tall and is approximately 160,000 sq. ft. 

The design of the building maintains the Dayton Children’s brand standards both inside and out. 


Fun Facts: The building has: over 460 doors, over 57,000 sq. ft. of wall protection and 670,500 sq. ft. of drywall.

This is an all-Ohio AIA component program that will be presented on Zoom. Registrants will be sent the Zoom link on March 1.

Building Decarbonization Basics: A Joint Meeting of AIA Dayton/Dayton ASHRAE Chapter

This lecture will present the basics of building decarbonization. Items to be discussed include: the driving forces for decarbonization; buildings’ contribution to carbon emissions; key descriptive parameters; pillars and potential for reduction of carbon emissions related to buildings; and key issues related to achieving zero carbon emissions.


If you cannot join in person, the meeting will also be presented on Zoom. You will be asked for your AIA member number if you participate via Zoom.

AIA Ohio 2023 Early Professional Friendly Firm Program 


This AIA Ohio program celebrates firms who offer exceptional support and opportunities for their early professionals. Additionally, the program seeks to foster a dialogue within firms across the state with the objective of creating new policies and practices that promote innovation, development, and progressive workplaces for the future members of the design profession. AIA Ohio expects that early professionals will consider firms that have earned this designation to assist them as they look match their skills with firms’ values as they seek employment.


How do I apply for the EP Friendly Firm designation for my firm?

Applicants will be required to complete a 53 question survey worth 107 possible points that includes questions from across 6 categories. These questions cover an array of areas critical to developing EP Friendly Firms. The survey is open now, and will close on March 15. Applications will be scored and firms will be notified by March 31. Click here to download the survey questions and point values in advance of your application.
