Meet Sarah Kleiner, Ohio AIA Small Firm Exchange state representative

Each year, the AIA Small Firm Exchange (SFx) selects small firm practitioners to advance the mutual interests of all small firms in their state. Sarah has been selected as the AIA Ohio state representative to the AIA National Small Firm Exchange.

Sarah currently co-chairs the AIA Cincinnati Women in Architecture committee and is active in the Local Advocacy Working Group. She volunteers with school children through DesignLAB, an AIA partner program that reaches 1200 students annually. Last year Sarah was a Sho-Ping Chin grant awardee from the Architects Foundation to attend the Women’s Leadership Summit.

Sarah is a principal at Envisage Architecture LLC, in Cincinnati, a WBE/WOSB firm she co-founded in 2016. They have seven employees that range from part-time to full-time. Their practice focuses on commercial projects, particularly retail, as well as multi-family projects. They are currently renovating their own LEED Silver multi-family, multi-use building that will include 11 apartments with their office on the first floor.

The mission of the Small Firm Exchange (SFx) is to advance the mutual interests of architects practicing in small firms. SFx representatives are integral to AIA communications, connecting small firm leaders in their local and state components to the national organization. AIA members practicing in small firms are encouraged to reach out to Sarah to discuss how the AIA could better support their practice. Find more information about the SFx at aia.org/sfx.

Sarah will be hosting monthly SFx coffee chats through 2023 to encourage small firm leaders to engage with one another, to discuss issues facing small firms today, and see what the AIA can do to support Ohio’s small firms.

The first one is April 20 https://aiacincinnati.org/programs/events/042023-small-firm-exchange-ohio. Please sign up today!
